In women’s 25m pistol, Abhidnya Ashok Patil came agonisingly close to making the final, shooting a superb 295 in the rapid-fire stage to total 583. She missed the cut on the inner-10 count, finishing ninth among medal contenders and 11th overall. France’s Camille Jedrzejewski and Korea’s Nam Dajung also ended on 583, but the Korean progressed with more inner-10s.

Compatriot Divya T.S. shot 290 in rapid-fire to total 581 and finish 16th, while Olympian Rahi Sarnobat matched her aggregate but placed 17th despite an impressive 295 in the second stage that made up for a modest precision round.

India’s medal hopes will now shift to the women’s 50m rifle 3-positions (3P) final on Friday, where Mehuli Ghosh, Surabhi Rapole, and Manini Kaushik are in action.

Meanwhile, hosts China lead the medal tally with two golds, with Italy, Norway and Korea taking one each from the five events completed so far.
